Hi friends!

I just uploaded a new unit called Brainy Bugs.  I am sure some of you combine garden and bugs, but this is perfect for a bug/insect/garden theme!   It's ALL about bugs and SUPER cute!  Click here to check it out!

Also, I just realized that I left out the carrot word bank for SomeBUNNY Knows Their Sight Words (a sight word activity in my Down on the Farm Literacy Unit.  Click here to download it for FREE!  So sorry it got left out!

Down on the Farm: Part 1

Happy Friday and HAPPY SPRING BREAK!  I don't know about you, but I know my friends and I deserve a break!  We have been working super hard the past couple of weeks.  I absolutely love this time of year!  Almost all of us are reading and at least attempting to write more than one word.  I am SO proud of each and every one of my kids!

This week we started a two week farm unit.  We have had a BLAST so far! Check out all the fun stuff we've done so far!

Set the timer for 10 seconds and see how many animals you can get in the pen.  Count and write the number.

I definitely did this backwards.  I should have done the dogs on white and kids on color so they couldn't just write the amount without counting the money.

Check out these DARLING farm animals!

Cows say, "Moo."

Sheep

Goats

Pig Fact book...

Horse fact book.. I forgot to add the yarn for the mane.  But isn't he hilarious?

If you like what you see, check out my TPT store!
Since this is a two week unit, I did separate math and literacy units.  Each unit has 20 activities!
Check them out here:

Please, share my blog and TPT with your friends!

In the Garden...

I just LOVE this time of year!  My k-friends have learned SO MUCH already!  I can just see those little brains working overtime. Almost all of my friends are reading and writing at some level and I am SO excited about it!  I have been blessed this year with a class that truly loves one another (and me) and will go out of the way to help each other...such peacemakers!  I love the kindergarten age, when the kids love you unconditionally...no matter what kind of day we have, in the end we all love and take of one another, and I love it!  I was told not too long ago by one of my students that, "Miss Chamblee you are awesome!  You are a NINJA teacher!"  I am guessing this is a compliment, but I can say it was definitely a first. :)
This week we learned  all about plants....check out all the fun we had!
Reading during small groups...each kid got to use this super cool phone to read to me. :)

I loved how some of my kids thought these were Santas.

How many seeds can you pick in 10 seconds...still working on that timer thing. :)

This was interesting to see if the kids noticed the two different sets of numbers.  Almost every one of them got it right!

Reading bossy-e words and illustrating.  I LOVE illustrating words... it works not only on reading but vocabulary and comprehension!

Picking flowers and using sight words to write a sentence.  We still need to work on sentence conventions (uppercase letters at the beginning of the sentences and periods/question marks at the end).

Our pocket chart story.

Predicting what will happen with our seeds in different situations.  If you like this, you can get it or free from my TPT store!  Just click here and download!

I absolutely LOVE these garden gnomes!  We talked about things that could hurt our garden and decided what our gnomes would protect our garden from. :)

Writing facts for our garden.

This was so easy and it turned out so cute!  I laid out the materials and the kids made one at a time.  It only took about 30 minutes. :)

The next few pictures are from our transportation week.  I forgot to post, but they were too cute not to.
This is our school-wide transportation mural... SO cute!
